Hello, I'm Stacie Murrah. I am part of the English and Reading departments at Boerne Middle School North.
My love for teaching began at an early age. I vividly remember structuring an exciting, dynamic classroom for my first "pupils" at the age of eight. I babysat for a family friend and provided beginning reading instruction for her daughters. They learned their ABC's, counting, how to pronounce words correctly, etc. These first students both graduated from Texas A & M; one is a physician and the other a dietitian. Although I cannot claim responsibility for these remarkable students' success, I do cite this memory because even at a young age my heart was bent toward teaching. My desire is to educate students and discover their talents along the way.
I received a BA in English from Abilene Christian University in 1993. For the past 23 years, I have enjoyed creating a safe, loving environment for young people to learn and grow. The first six years of my public education service was dedicated to teaching English and coaching. I actively lead FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). Then I took a public school sabbatical to devote eight years to raising two young daughters, who are now 17 and 13. When my youngest daughter was old enough to attend pre-k, I returned to the classroom at Boerne ISD. I feel privileged to work in the public school system, especially at Boerne Middle School North. My teaching assignments have included 7th and 8th grade English, 7th grade Pre-AP English, 7th grade Reading, 7th grade Pre-AP Reading, and 7th grade Texas History. I am a member of the P.A.S.S. (Positive and Safe Schools) team, Co-President for BCTA (Boerne Classroom Teacher's Association), and Reading Department Chair.
In my personal time I enjoy reading (nonfiction and fiction), water and snow skiing with my family, and hiking. I have completed the San Antonio Half-Marathon, Corpus Christi Half-Marathon, and several mini-triathlons. My husband, David Murrah, is the Head Golf Professional at Corderilla Ranch Country Club. We are active members of Oak Hills Church. I love being apart of the Boerne community--what a joy, from family life to teaching at Boerne Middle School North!
